On Sunday 13th July Stonepillow hosted it’s annual 6 a-side football tournament at Arun Sports Arena. This year’s edition was a resounding success for Stonepillow with 30 teams participating to support our cause of preventing homelessness and restoring lives.
For the first time ever Stonepillow fielded 3 teams with 9 clients and 6 staff lacing up their boots, enjoying a day of football, fun and fundraising. The structure of the tournament was divided into 2 sections: a men’s social tournament of 20 teams, and a men’s competitive level with a further 10.
Despite high temperatures and bright sunshine, teams from as far as Portsmouth competed, contributing to a vibrant, family-friendly atmosphere. Adding to the fun were attractions like West Sussex Mind, O’Hagan’s award-winning legendary sausages, Cat Burglar’s sensational donuts, and bouncy castles galore!
The day was a perfect showcase for what we want a Stonepillow fundraiser to be, a family centered day of fun for all ages. The day finished in perfect style for the charity, with Stonepillow Yellows beating Arc House Sharks on penalties in the final of the Social Plate. The many months of team building, and expert sessions led by Head Coach Liam O’Hagan amounted to another year of silverware for Stonepillow.

Alfie Montague, Marketing and Communications Officer and member of the Stonepillow Yellows said:
“Wow, what another incredible year for our annual football tournament. Our biggest yet with over 300 players enjoying a day of football in the beautiful British summer weather. A side from the day being a success and winning a trophy at the end of it, the one thing that was lovely to see was the smiles on the faces of our clients. For many years now we have hosted football sessions on a Tuesday for our clients, and it is all about allowing them to have fun, whilst enabling them to hopefully improve their mental and physical well-being. The annual tournament is our ‘World Cup Final’. To be able to win something for the clients to remember, means a lot, and it’s the reason we do what we do.”
We are delighted to share that this years tournament raised a brilliant £3485.73. Plans are already taking shape for next years tournament which has been penciled in for an earlier date of May 2026.
The day wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible work of Stonepillows incredible volunteers and staff. Their dedication and teamwork truly embodied the Stonepillow values and allowed the event to host over 500 people throughout the day.
The winners of the day were:
Competitive Cup – Bognor Rovers B
Competitive Plate – Pathways Coaching
Competitive Bowl – Southbourne Wednesday
Social Cup – Charley’s Angels
Social Plate – Stonepillow Yellow’s
Social Bowl – Chi Colts Olds
