Our work would be impossible without the generosity and skills of our dedicated volunteers, in terms of both the time they give and their commitment to helping others. Our team of staff provide support to over 130 people every day and working alongside them as a volunteer is a rewarding and positive experience.

In our bid to reduce homelessness and end rough sleeping, we require volunteers at all levels of our organisation, delivering different kinds of support to our staff and clients.
We are always interested to find out if there are people in our community who have a particular skill set which could help us to improve the way we work, add additional value, or help us solve a problem. Read on to find out how our amazing volunteers support the work that we do.
Volunteering at Restore – Our charity shops in Chichester and Bognor Regis generate funds to support the running of our services. Our shops are open 7 days a week and require the following volunteers:
- Van Drivers
- Van Driver’s Mate
- Textile Operative
- Online Sellers
- Goods-in Coordinators
- Receptionists/Till Support
- PAT Testers
- IT Support
- Shop Assistants
- Bike Technicians
Volunteer at our Events – We have an exciting and busy events calendar to raise funds for our services and we require the following volunteers to ensure our events are a success:
- Bucket Collectors
- Event Marshalls
- Sausage Sizzlers at Homebase
- Cake Bakers
- Event Administrators
- Big Sleep Out Volunteers

Volunteering at our Hubs and Hostels – We have two day hubs and two hostels in Chichester and Bognor Regis. Our aim is to support our clients towards living independently by equipping them with the skills they need to get there. Volunteers can help support staff to ensure that the services run smoothly, and our clients receive the support and advice they need. If you have a flair for front of house or cooking, then our hubs and hostels need you. Some of the roles available include:
- Lead Cooks
- Assistant Cooks
- Front of House
- Cleaners
- Electricians/plumbers
- Translators
- Volunteers with trade skills
- Health professionals (including dentists, therapists, holistic therapies, personal trainers)

If you are interested in volunteering your time and skills and are interested in any of the roles above, please complete our Registration Form or request one by emailing volunteer@stonepillow.org.uk or by calling 01243 537934. You can also visit our Central Support Team in Chichester, located at 39 Southgate, Chichester, PO19 1DP between 9am – 5pm Monday to Friday.

Stonepillow is compliant with the General Data Protection Regulations. Any personal information given on your registration form will only be used for the purposes of volunteering with Stonepillow. It will be stored securely and will not be disclosed to any other third party without your prior permission or unless we are required to do so by law.
What happens next?
Once we receive your registration form, we will invite you to meet us for a tour of the relevant project, meet other volunteers and meet the staff team. We will also explain the volunteer roles and how they are an important part of achieving Stonepillow’s mission and vision.
We will discuss your background and the skills you can offer to Stonepillow, and discuss which volunteer opportunity may suit you. The volunteer coordinator will also discuss how we will support you to ensure you are receiving the best volunteer experience possible.
We will ask you to bring two forms of ID to your meeting: a utility bill dated within the last 3 months and either a passport or driving licence. (Other accepted ID information can be found on the registration form).
In some cases, a DBS check may be required. This is usually only if your role involves working on a 1:1 basis or in a potentially sensitive environment with a client (for example, a dentist, counsellor or translator). We also require two character references for volunteers that wish to undertake such roles.
