Success for the Big Sleep Out 2018
The Big Sleep Out 2018 took place on Saturday 13th October at the Chichester Cathedral and was a huge success.
We had over 120 people sleep out in cardboard shelters and the event has raised nearly £17,000 so far! These funds will make a huge difference to the lives of homeless and vulnerable people and ensure that Stonepillow can continue to provide support to those in need.
The Big Sleep Out does not aim to replicate homelessness but does give people a small insight into some of the harsh realities of rough sleeping. One of our brave clients kindly came and shared his experience of what it’s like to be homeless and how he has turned his life around with our support. It was a stark reminder for everyone that becoming homeless can happen to anyone.
We would like to say a huge thank you to Kiwi Recruitment for sponsoring the event, they made a very impressive cardboard replica of Goodwood House. Brendon Cook, the Managing Director, joined the participants and slept out for the night.
We would also like to thank all the local businesses and community groups that provided food and entertainment to keep our participants fed and entertained throughout the afternoon and evening before they settled in to their shelters for the night.
Local photographer, Matt Wreford, kindly volunteered as our event photographer – check out his fantastic photos below.
