Stonepillow Bognor Hostel Opening
Stonepillow are very proud to be opening their brand new hostel in Bognor Regis on 4th June. The service will provide intensive support to homeless and vulnerable people and enable them to start achieving stability and move on to more suitable accommodation.
Stonepillow have been successful in gaining great support from donors across West Sussex which has enabled them to take on the refurbishment of the building they purchased in Ellasdale Road last year. This includes a refurbishment grant from Homes England.
The new hostel provides a modern, light and safe environment for people to take their first steps off the streets and will replace the existing hostel in Glenlogie basement, which currently opens from 6pm-8am each evening and sleeps 10 in small dormitory-style rooms. The new hostel will increase the number of people Stonepillow can support from 10 to 16 in individual en-suite rooms.
Hilary Bartle, Chief Executive, said, ‘Homelessness has increased in the area over the last few years through changes in benefits systems and the pressures on the affordability and availability of housing. Many of our clients have complex needs and our new hostel will vastly improve the lives of those who have been sleeping rough in the area and help them on their journey to improving their lives and becoming independent.’
