Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) update

Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) update

Updated: 14th February 2020

Due to the weather warning for strong winds and rain issued for this weekend, Chichester District Council have implemented Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) meaning there is a warm bed and food available for anyone on the streets.

Advice for anyone rough sleeping

We are operating SWEP in Chichester from the 14th February to the morning of the 17th February, this is alongside our usual hostel provision. No one needs to be on the streets right now, we urge anyone rough sleeping to come to one of our Hubs - they are open as usual offering warm clothes, warm food and support.

If you’re not already in one of our hostels, we are able to undertake a referral for you to Chichester SWEP where not only will we offer you shelter, warmth and support but also start looking at ongoing housing solutions past the end of this severe weather.

Our Chichester Hub is open:

  • Monday - Tuesday 7.45am - 2pm
  • Wednesday - Friday 7.45am - 4pm
  • Saturday - Sunday 8am - 1pm

Address: Chichester Hub, Old Glassworks, St Cyriacs, Chichester PO19 1AJ
Tel: 01243 775925
Email: chichester.hub@stonepillow.org.uk

Our Bognor Hub is open:

  • Monday, Wed, Fri 9am - 3pm

Address: Bognor Hub, Glenlogie (Basement), Clarence Road, Bognor Regis, Po21 1JT
Tel: 07715 328973

How to support the work we do

Homelessness doesn’t just happen in cold weather, but is an issue all year round. The SWEP offers us an opportunity to engage with people we might not normally see, for a complexity of reasons, and look to give them ongoing support in the future.

If you wish to support the work we are delivering to homeless people in these awful weather conditions you can donate online.

Your generosity could save someone's life right now.
