Pupils Help at Restore
Bishop Luffa CoPE pupils roll up their sleeves and get stuck in...
We would like to express our gratitude to Mrs Deborah Jordan, Learning Support, for enabling this fantastic initiative.
Deborah explains more below:
"Community work is an integral part of CoPE (Certificate of Personal Effectiveness), and pupils have made regular visits to Stonepillow’s Restore workshop, where under the excellent supervision of Shawn, they have been shown how to sand down and polish an oak bureau and walnut cabinet to a professional standard. During our final visit to Restore, Shawn told the CoPE team that both items have now been sold, raising a total of £180 to further the Charity’s invaluable work. Earlier this term pupils also had the opportunity to tour around St Joseph’s Night Refuge and, subsequently, contributed to St Joseph’s larder by making and donating a quantity of cakes.
Bishop Luffa are grateful to have been able to work with such enthusiastic volunteers, as the visits have greatly enriched pupils’ understanding of the social issues surrounding homelessness, as well as providing enjoyable opportunities to play a small part in supporting these local ventures."
