The Big Sleep Out 2017
Join us for our annual Big Sleep Out on Saturday 7th October 2017!
Get sponsored to sleep outside for a night to raise awareness and essential funds to support homeless people in West Sussex.
This year we aim to raise £30,000 and every penny you raise will enable us to provide essential support to local homeless people within our community.
The Big Sleep Out will be held on Saturday 7th October 2017 from 3:00pm. The event finishes at 8:00am on Sunday 8th October 2017.
Chichester Cathedral have kindly allowed us to use their grounds, a perfect spot right in the centre of Chichester. View map.
How do I register?
Registration is just £15 per person. Sign up now!
Who can take part?
Everyone! You can register as an individual or why not get a group of friends or colleagues together? The Big Sleep Out can be a great team building exercise. Please note, anyone under the age of 18 will need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian download and complete a parental consent form.
Can my organisation get involved?
Yes absolutely! This is a fantastic opportunity to support a worthy cause whilst raising your profile in the local and wider community. Find out how.
What about fundraising?
We encourage participants to set themselves a target of at least £250 per person. Don't worry if you don’t know how to get started, we offer guidance, support and tools to help with fundraising every step of the way – it’s fun and a great challenge! If you are unable to take part in this year's event but would still like to make a contribution, you can either donate directly to Stonepillow or sponsor another participant via JustGiving.
Why a Big Sleep Out?
Stonepillow provides support 365 days a year in Chichester, Bognor Regis and Littlehampton and we have 86 clients in our accommodation on any given evening. By taking part in the Big Sleep Out and raising as much as possible, you can help us to empower homeless and vulnerable people to make positive changes in their lives.
What happens at the event?
The event does not aim to replicate homelessness but it will give you a small insight into the harsh realities of rough sleeping. We do promise to make the night enjoyable for you and keep you fed and watered!
Registration takes place from 3:00pm followed by the big build of shelters in the grounds of the Cathedral. This is followed by the official judging and award of ‘Best Shelter’, a service in the Cathedral to thank everyone involved and then a fabulous BBQ and evening of entertainment for all our participants.
