Stonepillow Big Sleepout 2015

Stonepillow Big Sleepout 2015

So far you have raised £16,719.90!

Thank you to all of our participants and supporters for making this our most successful Big Sleepout EVER!

A cardboard city was created in the Chichester city centre, outside Chichester Cathedral, on Saturday 10th-11th October 2015 where around 150 Stonepillow supporters gathered to sleep rough and raise funds and awareness for the charity. By Monday morning Stonepillow had received £10,000 and in December the Stonepillow Big Sleepout received the Observer Community Award for the Best Community Event!

The event was sponsored by Henry Adams Estate Agents which meant that every penny raised could go directly towards helping rough sleepers in West Sussex to get off the streets and re-integrate back into society by addressing the health, work and housing issues that they face. This year the sleepout took place on World Homelessness Day, which was suitably themed ‘locals acting locally on a global day’. The emphasis was on giving hands-on aid that is sensitive to local needs, while being aware of the global problem of homelessness.

St John’ Church Youth Group from Southbourne won first prize in the Shelter Building Competition which took place during the day and was judged by well-known TV actor Christopher Timothy (All Creatures Great and Small and Doctors), Henry Adams partner - Martin Curry, and Stonepillow’s Chair of Trustees - Shelagh Legrave OBE. Prizes were presented later at an Ecumenical Service in the Cathedral, a Service attended by Denise Patterson, the High Sherriff of West Sussex, the Chairman of West Sussex County Council - Cllr Pat Arculus, the Mayor of Bognor Regis - Cllr Jeanette Warr and the Deputy Mayor of Littlehampton – Cllr Ian Buckland.
