Sussex Police Community Cash Back Fund
Through the Sussex Community Foundation Stonepillow applied for financial help in providing training to homeless and vulnerable individuals in order to:
- Enable diversion from crime through educational and organised activities designed to improve personal skills and promote self-esteem.
- Encourage greater public participation in the prevention of antisocial behaviour.
Our innovative project is to enhance an existing service by providing to those who live on the streets with an opportunity to attend structured activities that will promote a sense of well being, belonging and self-esteem. The activities will include life skills training such as relaxation and meditation, Controlling Anger Learning to Manage (CALM), enhanced thinking skills, stress management, Addaction support, budgeting, housing and stress management.
Other activities would include group activities such as art, music and IT. The funding would provide the basis for an individual to attend “Train the Trainer” qualified training in order for them to train other Stonepillow staff in the skills required to deliver this important training. It would be our intention that the growing trained staff would then be able to offer the service to other community organisations, therefore extending the overall benefit.
