Stonepillow Restore, which opened in May 2010 after receiving a grant from the Big Lottery Fund, is a social enterprise project that works with the local community.
Donations of furniture and white goods are restored and recycled. Restoration work is carried out by our trainees and overseen by a workshop manager at our warehouses in Terminus Road, Chichester. We provide a practical work and learning environment for Stonepillow clients and long-term unemployed people to gain valuable work experience. Community volunteers help with training in all areas of Restore from office administration to furniture restoration. Trainees also work on job applications, CV building and they get professional job search advice.
Once the furniture has been restored, and the electrical goods have been PAT tested, they are displayed for sale in our warehouse in Terminus Road where the public can buy items. We offer a 20% discount on furniture items above £20 for those on DLA, jobseekers allowance, ESA, Housing Benefit and pension credit benefits. This enables us to provide good quality furniture at reasonable prices to those on a low income.
Stonepillow Restore provides better prospects for people in recovery from addiction, and develops employability for long-term unemployed people and to reduce social exclusion.
